JOB DESCRIPTION:

Experience must include building plumbing designs for both new and renovation projects. The qualified candidate must have AutoCAD experience.   REVIT and Microstation experience is desired but not mandatory.  Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, is expected.  Knowledge of methods to search the internet for local Code requirements, product searches, and the ability to utilize Specintact for specs generation is desired.  Knowledge of LEED and Energy Star requirements is desired.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Perform field investigations to determine existing conditions and to create existing plumbing condition drawings including any detailed Demolition drawings.
  • Capable of climbing a ladder to get to the roof to do field investigations, or to measure piping and appurtenances from within a ceiling space.
  • Design all aspects of plumbing systems, including building plans, riser diagrams, sections, elevations, plumbing fixture schedules, and plumbing specifications, plumbing cost estimates, fixture unit calculations, plumbing calculations for a COMCheck and overall Construction Document preparation.
  • Draft technical specifications.
  • Interpret and apply all applicable federal, state and/or local codes including the International Plumbing Code.
  • Complete projects ranging from moderate to high complexity.
  • Excellent knowledge of and familiarity with the following systems and services including the ability to design and specify all equipment and components in relation to:
  • Knowledge of the following systems is not mandatory, however, would be considered a plus:
  • Storm Water
  • Sanitary and Vent piping systems.
  • Domestic/potable cold water.
  • Domestic Hot water and hot water recirculating systems.
  • Natural Gas systems.
  • Vacuum Systems. (Such as dental and medical gas systems.)
  • Propane Systems.
  • Sprinkler Systems (Referencing NFPA Standards – Performance Based)
  • DeIonized water systems.
  • Laboratory water and finishing methods.
  • Reverse-Osmosis Systems
  • Distilled Water systems.
  • Compressed air systems.
  • Medical Gasses such as Oxygen & Nitrogen.
  • Grey water systems.
  • Waterless fixture piping.
